Meet Tr. Satoia
With over 15 years of teaching experience across the United States and abroad, I bring a global perspective and a deep understanding of how students learn best. As a bilingual educator, I believe that mathematics is more than numbers; it's a language and a tool students can use to better understand the world around them.
Over the years, I’ve noticed a consistent pattern: many students, even those enrolled in advanced math courses, often face challenges with foundational skills rooted in early middle school, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra I concepts. These gaps can hold students back from true mastery and confidence in higher-level math. That realization led me to focus exclusively on strengthening those foundational years because that's where I believe lasting growth begins.
I also know that math success isn't just about solving problems—it's about building the skills to organize, retain, and retrieve information long after the lesson ends. That's why every session integrates key executive function skills—so students build lasting understanding and independence.
Executive Function Skills I Prioritize
Organization – creating systems for managing notes, assignments, and study routines
Planning & Prioritization – breaking big goals into clear, manageable steps
Working Memory – improving recall of formulas, processes, and key ideas
Self-Monitoring – learning to check work and reflect on understanding
Flexibility – adapting when faced with new types of problems
Whether a student is preparing for a high-stakes test, working to improve their current math grade, or looking to get a head start, my goal is to equip them with the understanding and strategies that lead to lasting success, because skills last longer than answers.
